DAY 1:
We follow the roads of Cambodia. At 30 or 40 km / h, we are not moving quickly! We have time to appreciate the Khmer countryside with its wooden houses on stilts ... Unfortunately, we also discover a desolate landscape. The trees are cut and some of it stems grow from there. They continue to make charcoal which enthroned the bags on the roadside ... Yet Wood already miss! We feel that the Cambodians live in the present, immediately! When there are no more wood, they advise.
We pass cyclists who each carry a wooden plank 5 meters long. It's pretty spectacular!
First step: Anlong Veng, which resembles an Old West town with dust in the atmosphere necessary.
DAY 2:
Today we leave the bitumen to discover great tracks under construction. Thibault was surprised by the sheer number of bridges under construction! Especially that they should be priced at around potholes sometimes painful and covered in sand ...
We skirted many military camps in the direction of Preah Vihear. Since little or not paid by the government, they have land as compensation. They cleared the wood and sell ... We have saw tanks camouflaged property but rather the most surprising and most populous military was the temple itself. Many sought to be offered a carton of cigarettes. Others have followed us for a little distraction. And last we were smiling in the shade of a tree. Everything is there: booths, barricades of sandbags, machine guns and are ready to act at the slightest alarm. For now, they are peaceful. I guess that camouflage is the same on the Thai side, that is 200 meters below. He is said to anyone who will listen that they are fighting this majestic Khmer temple, but those who drag their ears believe that the cause would be the oil?
We left the hills to find the dirt tracks and go to a small village at the end of nowhere: Sham Tseng. Still very tentative in our linguistic practice, we almost did not eat ...
DAY 3:
Upon awakening, the two little girls and their mothers met the day ahead with sumptuous clothing, fashions and hairstyles extraordinary jewelry. All this heralds a photo shoot! It's cute.
Today, we pause often. All excuses are good: Stand watermelon juice, sugar cane, big red cooler that tells us that we can find ice cubes and cold water (I said it killed at least 35 ° in the shade) not to mention the meal breaks. We're starting to really immerse ourselves. It pleases us! We create lots of smiles on the road ... The dust is to go, we wash our foundation of free ...
Incredible as it may seem in such plant which is becoming scarce, we are amazed by the large presence of birds: egrets in settlements near wetlands, but also kingfishers, bee eaters, rollers and others that we do not identify ... The metallic sound of cicadas sometimes covers everything else.
DAYS 4 AND 5:
We review our turn down! Wherever we go, we just want to rub the population for a brief moment, in all modesty ... We therefore remain two nights in this town, Tbeng Men Cheai where there is nothing to visit. Children enjoy to pose and find fast benchmarks. We take this opportunity to explore more fully the Khmer cuisine. Unfortunately, I find it almost impossible to pronounce correctly "is very good" in that language! I hope that language learning would be easier .. I'm not at my surprise!??!
DAY 6:
This day is called "100% No Problem ". Thus we have sold a customer of our favorite troquet. A few words of English, a few words of Khmer, we managed to talk to our destination ... And yet we had not done one kilometer track that surprised us with his pitiful state. We even had a chance to scare a snake along two meters. Later, the road seemed better. However, we have pushed steadily into the sand. If we have the misfortune of an oncoming car, light seeping across the land: nose, mouth, ears, eyebrows, hair, clothes, etc. ... The way people look spoke volumes about our makeup !
People working on the roads are not ready to be unemployed. Everywhere they are under construction.
DAY 7:
After reducing our journey, we must abandon the idea of going to the temple of Preah Khan. Our plans were made according to our desires without knowing the condition of the tracks! This time it is impractical for a moped. We want to compete with seasoned bikers and equipped thus encourage us too ... Item must do, we do not have the middle! In any problem, there is a solution. We take a different direction ... And the light flashed into the path of happiness and of immersion among the Khmer. We wandered into a splendid campaign. Our copy Khmer (see photo) has guided us in ways we've discovered amazing and Sambor Pre Kuk (Khmer city of the sixth century) in shaping up well ... There, we were nicknamed the "adventure travelers" ...
The Cambodian people are really touching, touching. This time we're in Cambodia, we do not touch that. The magic of this land and this people has won again.
DAY 8:
We are moving forward without a guide. We are meeting a map not always very realistic and we laugh a lot when we look for a corn that nobody seems to know. The way they show us a direction is pretty funny. Outstretched arm, is still "in there". When there are two roads, they seem to see that ... It's very funny but we also know that some do not go much further than their village and are clueless not be able to help us further. The essential is it that we always find a place to sleep and eat?
On the road, we saw a few weddings. Tis the season. Colors and brightnesses lead the dance.
Beautiful homes with leafy gardens lined the road. Gilded castles fever chart Khmer campaign .. As for cows, you never know if they stop in the middle of the road, if they go back or forward. Their composure is characteristic ... They are not disturbed by the anarchic movement which we were both warned! We arrived at Dom Deik and we fell in love. Closing the market at sunset, we watched the game of volleyball, the return of farmers to their home ... It was a beautiful late afternoon in shimmering colors.
DAY 9:
We
come across two-wheeler extremely loaded. Women are installed on the roadside to sell everything that is eaten. We discover the temple of Beng Mealea whose magnitude reflects ancient times ostentatious. It's still chaos in many parts. Here we can admire the beautiful big trees. This is the story that keeps ...
The bell rang, we must return to Siem Reap. With the excellent sense of direction of Sylvain, we could still escape to the great country. We pressed on beautiful trails inhabited during the 70 miles back. We have not hesitated to stop as often as possible in order to proclaim to all the people we were happy to discover their country and meet them ... We have more fun one with our joviality ...
